Prior to founding Blueshift, Fran worked for over 25 years in education - in classrooms and with schools, cultural institutions and as a leader in the non-profit sector - developing resources, training educators and facilitating community conversations. As Co-Founder and partner in Blueshift, Fran's passion for issues of justice and commitment to education are joined to leverage social impact documentary media across platforms and communities for deep and lasting change.

Fran spent a joyful decade as a classroom teacher before joining the international education non-profit Facing History and Ourselves. For fifteen rewarding years Fran served as Senior Program Associate in San Francisco, Director of the the Denver/Rocky Mountain States regional office, and most recently, Senior Associate for Research and Development for the national organization. Fran trained and supported hundreds of educators, was the lead writer on numerous educational resources and facilitated many nationwide trainings over the years. Fran is a skilled and creative strategic thinker creating partnerships and implementing programs with leading institutions and organizations across the country. When she is not working on new projects, Fran serves on several local boards, enjoys spending time playing in Colorado’s mountains skiing, climbing and camping with her husband and three children.

Fran holds a Bachelor's Degree in Politics from Mount Holyoke College, a Master's Degree in Education/Curriculum and Design from the University of Colorado, a diploma in Jewish Studies from the Oxford Center for Hebrew and Jewish Studies, and has completed her PhD coursework in Cultural Studies and History from Claremont Graduate School.
