Looking Forward in 2018

You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.
— Jane Goodall

At Blueshift, 2017 was a deeply gratifying year of learning, growth and impact and for that we have you, our partners and collaborators, to thank. And we are looking forward to continuing and expanding this work in 2018.

In our world and nation, last year was one of struggle. It was also a year in which we saw the emergence of diverse community leadership and open dialogue about some of our most intractable social inequalities. In the context of so much change and upheaval, it is a gift to work with incredibly talented and passionate filmmakers, producers, community leaders, educators, philanthropists and many other dynamic and creative people who understand the power of non-fiction media and education to contribute to positive social change.

Here are some of our favorite projects of 2017:

We are deeply grateful for the energy and support of our partners and friends and mentors at Doc Society, PBS, POV and Independent Lens, Kartemquin Films, ro*co Films, and more.

Looking ahead to 2018, we are excited to continue our work supporting documentary film at POV and Independent Lens, and to work in collaboration with more film teams who wish to expand the educational impact of their work. With an eye to helping great non-fiction media reach broader audiences and achieve meaningful impact, we are working on big ideas that we’ll be thrilled to share as they come to life.

Here’s to a happy, healthy, creative and transformative new year!
